Provincial Academies of Sport SASCOC Position We are the controlling body responsible for the Academy System as per the 2011 National Sport and Recreation Resolutions and the National Sport and Recreation Plan There should be Management Committees as opposed to Provincial Academy Boards Will facilitate and source funding for Academy programmes – in collaboration with Provincial Dept and SRSA Create the best possible environment for our athletes and officials from grass root to high performance

Academies of Sport Management Committee –Oversee the operational matters of the regional and provincial academy –Monitor programmes and give guidance in line with agreed upon National High Performance Plan –Monitor use of allocated funds and report accordingly –Provide required reports to the Province and SASCOC –Give input to the High Performance Commission Proposed Composition –1x Chairperson of Provincial Sports Council –Provincial Dept (HOD) –Scientific and Medical expert –Legal/Finance

Academies of Sport Talented athletes from the school sports programme channeled to the Regional Academies (Talent Scouts) Talented athletes from Federation sports specific talent programmes channeled to Regional Academies (Talent Scouts) Talent Identification (School Sport) Regional Academies

Provincial Academies of Sport Role of Performance Centres Provide scientific, medical and research services Ensure scientific data is filtered to the Managers and Coaches Assist Academies on tracking and monitoring services Work closely with the CSIR on the provision of relevant and innovative technology Where applicable, house the Provincial Athletes
