Gayles Learning Academy Gayles learning Academy is a public school that offers many things. We carry grades and we are very diverse. School starts after Labor Day and ends in May.

After School Programs: Our after school programs allow our students to experience more things that are hands –on. You must sign-up for the programs when you are given your schedule at the open house. We offer four after school programs to our students.

Art Appreciation: Art appreciation: is basically an art class that teaches you about famous artists and different art forms. You will do different hand on projects and get more experience about different art times. There will be different trips that we will go on and different programs that students will get to choose. You’ll have to sign up for art appreciation when the school year begins. There will be a snack provided. The days we will have art appreciation are on Monday’s and Friday’s.

Family and Consumer Science: Family and Consumer Science- a program that teaches your life skills and general everyday things. There will be tests every two weeks about a lesson and whoever gets an A will be rewarded by a party. The days for these classes are on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.

Filming classes: Filming Classes- the filming class will be a class about different films and companies. It will also be a little history lesson telling your when films we first filmed and who the most famous actors of that time period. There will be a lot of 1918 movies. There will be popcorn and a beverage provided.

School Sports: We offer a few school sports. These sports will be : Softball/baseball –season starts in spring Soccer- starts in late summer to the middle of fall. Basketball- season starts in fall ends first week of December. Football- we’ll have a county football team season ending after October.

Softball and baseball: Softball/baseball –softball/baseball season will start in the spring, there will be practice on Monday’s through Wednesday There will be games on Thursday. Softball games will be before baseball and you will be required to have a physical.

Soccer: Our next sport is soccer. soccer is becoming very popular and we want our students to enjoy it. We won’t have a school team but we will offer a county team. You won’t have to try out and anybody that lives in the county is eligible to be on the team. The county will hold meetings for soccer every month.

Basketball: We will have a school team for boys and girls basketball. The boys will have the games on Thursday, the girls will have games on Friday. On Monday the boys and girls will have practice The girls will have practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays before the boys game. The boys will have practice on Wednesday and Friday before the girls game.

Our bake sale: We will have a bake sale every two months to help with funding for our after school programs and school sports. Anyone from the community can join in. Other school activities: We will have a cook out at the beginning of the year and at the year!

Dances: We will have dances sponsored by our school. There will be dances after the first month of school, a dance before Christmas break. In the spring there will be a formal dance for all grades, but first the eighth and ninth graders will have a dance together, the ten and eleventh graders will have dance together, and you’ll have senior prom.
