How to survive in the wilderness

Will to Survive When Faced with a survival situation an individual encounters many stress related behaviours that ultimately impact the mind and affect decision making Without a desire to survive, acquired skills will serve little purpose in the wilderness

Basic Needs In a wilderness survival situation you will be confronted with many problems that you need to overcome. There are four basic needs for survival in the wilderness

Four Basic Needs 1.Warmth 2.Water 3.Sleep 4.Food

Four Basic Need The Survivor challenge is to put these needs in a priority list. The priority will of course depend on what circumstances you are dealing with

Warmth Maintaining ideal body temperature is crucial Our body operates within a narrow temperature range You cannot be too hot or cold or you will die In most wilderness situation the challenge is to stay warm

Warmth Even in the desert warmth is a issue In the daytime the temperature is warm and at night the temperature drops

Water Our Bodies need water for biological process to take place The human body is made up of 75% water We need a constant supply of water to function Water is essential to life The average person can last three days without water Do not wait till you run out!!!!!!

Sleep As human we need a certain amount of sleep to remain rational Without sleep our minds begin to hallucinate and we become unable to make conscious decisions to better our situation

Food An average adult can survive for three weeks without food Food is rarely the first priority

Basic Steps Survival depends a great deal on your ability to withstand stress in emergency situations and to take the right action Knowledge and practical skills that can help you manage a difficult situation to enable you to remain calm and objective
