Student Exchange Program Photo Journal Saskatoon Saskatchewan Chernivtsi Ukraine

History of the exchange In the Spring of 1990, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Education in Ukraine and Saskatchewan’s Education Ministry. The agreement made specific provisions for student exchanges between both Ukraine and Saskatchewan for educational purposes. Aim of the exchange program To facilitate the establishment of direct friendly contacts between students, parents and educators in Ukraine and Saskatchewan. To provide an educational opportunity which will raise the level of English language fluency by students from Ukraine and the level of Ukrainian language fluency by Saskatchewan students. To facilitate mutual familiarization with the history, culture and national traditions of both countries. 2

This two-part educational exchange requires approximately two years of planning and preparation. One part focuses on preparation of the Grade 11/12 students for their educational excursion to Ukraine; the other part involves hosting the exchange students from Chernivtsi, Ukraine, in Saskatoon. You are invited to enjoy Ukraine through the eyes of the exchange students in the photo journal which follows… 3
