ESR1: Pavement design for cold recycled materials. Partners. Training Laboratory testing Link with the industry Practical implication Laboratory facilities Training PhD

Project Objectives Review of literature of cold-mix asphalt and design methods Design the most appropriate laboratory test programme Measure effects of key variables on performance Develop a pavement design methodology Establish practical limitations on the use of cold recycled materials Propose appropriate specifications and design guidance for authorities and practicioners

Literature review conclusions Design guide for airfields Use of foamed bitumen Curing procedure: 20°C 28 days

Research plan New design guide needed Cold mix characterisation Comparison with hot mix Develop design methodology o Select design software o Reproduce conventional guides o Introduce cold mix characteristics New design guide development

Training Lunch time presentation Participation in projects (laboratory training) Workshops

Training “Innovative materials to achieve sustainable pavement” Filippo Giustazzi Laboratory security and equipment's: o Foaming plant, Gyro compactor, ITSM, RLAT, ITS and Strain control fatigue NTEC presentation
