Money

Do you ever wonder where your money comes from? Or what happens to it after you spend it? Lets find out.

My name is Dennis the dollar bill. And I want to show you what my life is like.

Before I get to enter the world I must be made. Do you know where I’m made? The Bureau of Engraving And Printing The Grocery Store

That’s right. The place where I am made is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. There are two of these in the U.S. One located in Washington D.C. and one in Ft. Worth, Texas.

The B.E.P. is similar to the Mint where coins are made, but only bills are printed here.

First workers made a die to use as the stencil for all the bills. Then the die is covered with ink. The die is pressed through a machine that marks the pattern onto paper.

Watch this video to re-cap how I’m made. V9R9Sshttp:// V9R9Ss

The way that they engrave the die make money super hard to copy. It is very easy to recognize the fake money over the real money. FAKE!

After I’m “born” in the bureau, I’m shipped out to a bank. Where can these banks be? Anywhere in the U.S.? Anywhere in the world?

Since I’m only a U.S. dollar I can only stay in America. No other country will accept me because they have different types of money.

From the bank, I get put into your hands! Whether it comes from your parents or a job, everyone must get their money from a bank. Then you are free to spend me as you please.

I can stay with you as long as you want, until you see something that you love and must have.

When you want to buy something, you will exchange your money for that new toy or whatever you have your heart set on.

From there my life is like a whirlwind, I travel from person to person, being exchanged for hats, gas, food, and anything else you can think of.

I keep living like this for a few years, but then someone might forget about me. I might get lost or ripped and wont be able to be used again. But the bureau has already printed me tons of replacements by then!

Now lets see what you know about me. I’m a one dollar bill, so what president do I have? George Bush or George Washington

George Washington is right! How many quarters make up one dollar? 7 Or 4 or 10

4 Quarters in 1 dollar! I hope you had fun on this adventure with me and my crazy life!

If you want to see where real dollars have been you can track them online at: Bye!

Oops, wrong. Try Again!
