Developing Personal Confidence and Searching for a Job

Learning Objectives – Personal Confidence By the end of this session you will: 1.Identify confident behaviours 2.Review your own confidence 3.List your personal achievements 4.State the importance of transferable skills 5.Identify your personal strengths

Learning Objectives – Searching for a Job By the end of this session you will: 1.Match your personal skills and requirements to job vacancies 2.Be able to research suitable job opportunities 3.Find 2 job adverts and describe 2 key facts about each one 4.State where to find information and key facts about jobs 5.Search for job vacancies and alert systems 6.Describe the key features of a job advert

Self Awareness Self awareness is knowing your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self awareness allows you to understand how other people perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them.

Confidence Confidence is a feeling of emotional security resulting from faith in oneself. Confidence is a firm belief in one's powers, abilities, or capacities.

Building Confidence Step 1. Consider where you want to be and where you are now Step 2. Look at what you've already achieved and think about your strengths Step 3. Set goals and develop the skills you need

Personal Achievements But I haven’t really achieved anything….

Personal Achievements Achievements are things you’ve done that you are proud of and can include: Arranging events Awards from work or school Raising children or caring for others Sports achievements Having many friends Playing a musical instrument Passing your driving test Dealing with a difficult time or situation

Achievements – Skills and Strengths I set up a fund raising stall for children in need and got help from family and friends who baked cakes and sweets so that I raised a total of £250. Shows: Initiative Motivation Communication Team player Customer focus Knowledge of finances.

Achievements – Skills and Strengths Each morning I get my three children up, dressed, fed and ensure they have everything they need for school. Then I drop them off on time at two different schools. Shows: Planning and organising Timekeeping and meeting deadlines Adaptability/flexibility Resilience Persuading and influencing

Achievements – Skills and Strengths When learning to drive I was passed from instructor to instructor and had countless lessons and tests. After 8 years of trying I passed my driving test. Shows: Commitment Motivation Adaptability/flexibility Resilience

Transferable Skills Transferable skills are things that you can do that can be applied in different situations and circumstances.
