Who is Mrs. Fauci?  I am in my eighth year teaching Social Studies in grade 7.  I am a graduate of St. Peter's University (2008) where I majored in History and minored in Secondary Education.  I am also a graduate of Montclair State University (2012) where I received my masters in History.  Part of Team 1 which includes Mrs. Michalski, Ms. Friedman, Ms. Jen and Ms. Louis.

What will we learn this year?  Ancient Civilizations is a fun course because it includes a study of maps, graphs, world cultures, world religions, governments, the economy, and the histories of many different people and places. Our study includes Early Humans, Ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt and Kush, Ancient India, Ancient China, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome.  It is divided into seven units:  1. Early Humans  2. Mesopotamia & The Middle East  3. Ancient Egypt & Kush  4. Ancient India  5. Ancient China  6. Ancient Greece  7. The Roman World

Student Objectives (What students will learn and be able to do throughout the year):  Students will be able to:  Identify and locate countries and geographical features on different maps.  Explain significance of climate, religion, customs, language, and other factors that play a major role in different countries.  Analyze and interpret the culture (government, economies, and society) of specific cultures.  Describe the histories of various ancient civilizations.  Analyze historical documents and understand how two or more authors can have different arguments about the same event or concept.

Instructional Methods (What we will do in class):  Class discussions.  Class notes.  Writing assignments (Do Now, essays, DBQ’s, Current Events, etc.):  Role-plays.  Group work.

How will students be graded?  1. Writing assignments.  2. Tests (One per unit)  3. Quizzes (One per lesson)  4. Homework  5. Notebook (One per unit)  6. Class participation  7. Projects  8. DBQ

How will students be graded?  All assignments are worth a set number of points.

Materials (What learning tools you will need):  A positive attitude.  A notebook OR binder. (*Note* a binder is preferred.)  A pen or pencil every day.  A folder. (Purple is preferred).  Your agenda pad.  Your textbook
