Old Testament Characters By Wil Gaboury

Adam and Eve -First two humans ever created -They lived in the garden of Eden -Eat the apple off the tree -Apple brings awful punishment to Adam and eve and all of their offspring (humanity). -Had two children named Cain and Able -Cain was angry that god did not like his offerings and killed Able

Noah -In a time when the world was corrupt due to humans god wanted to wipe out humanity -Noah was the only righteous person in gods eyes and wanted him to be saved -Noah was told to build an ark and get 2 of every animal on it -God made a convenant with Noah that he would never wipe out humanity again.

Abraham -A man who was not sinless but would do whatever god commanded -he was told by god to sacrifice his son, Isaac (but god told him to stop right before he actually did) -As a reward god promises his descendants will become a great nation. (later known as Israel) -Islam, Christianity, and Jews all trace their roots to Abraham

Moses -All Israelites were slaves in Egypt -the number of them was increasing fast and so the worried Egyptians drowned all Israelite baby males. -Moses was put in a reed basket and did not drown. Was later found by Egyptian princess. -Raised as royalty -later killed an Egyptian brutally beating a slave -He fled Egypt and god came to him (burning bush) -He then lead all Israelites out of Egypt into promised land

David -gained fame when he defeated goliath with nothing but a sling a stone -Became second king of Jerusalem -Kills his one of his very loyal solders and commits a sin with that solders wife -God forgives him but David is punished for what he did

Elijah -Many of Israelites believe in the Canaanite deity's instead of the almighty god -Elijah must prove to the people that there is only one true god by challenging them to a god vs. god showdown -the first god to set a sacrifice bull on fire wins. Elijah prays to god and in response he sends fire from the sky that consumes the bull -Later in life Elijah is taken to heaven is a fiery horse drawn chariot -Jews believe that he will come back as a sign of the coming of the messiah. They celebrate Passover to usher in Elijah and the age of the Messiah.

Isaiah -very important and wise prophet of god -Used wisdom to guide many of the kings of Judah -Created many prophesies that were later interpreted as predictions of the coming of Jesus Christ -
