The Story of Stuff  Ever wonder where all of our stuff comes from? And why we waste so much?  The Story of Stuff: 

What is Waste?  Unwanted or undesired material or substance.  It may consist of the unwanted materials left over from a manufacturing process or from community and household activities.  It is also used to describe something we use inefficiently or inappropriately.

Rethinking before Recycling…  Which of these do you think is the better choice for the environment?  OR

 The aluminum can is a better environmental choice because it can be recycled!  Although the juice box is 70 % paper, it also contains an aluminum liner and a plastic liner and cover.  Plastic and aluminum are recycled using different processes, making the juice box difficult to recycle.

Reduce Reuse Recycle!  Reducing the amount of waste you produce is the best way to help the environment.  There are lots of ways to do this. For example: –Buy products without a lot of packaging –Turn off lights –Turn off water –Take public transportation/car pool

Reuse  Instead of throwing things away, try to find ways to use them again!  For example: –Use cloth bags at the store –Donate old or used clothing –Plastic containers that can be used more than once

Recycle  Many of the things we use every day, like paper bags, soda cans, and milk cartons, are made out of materials that can be recycled.  Recycled items are put through a process that makes it possible to create new products out of the materials from the old ones.

Replace  Adopt eco-friendly goods or lifestyles, such as using handkerchiefs instead of tissues, travel by public transport instead of private cars.  Use durable items instead of one-off disposable items (ex: replace paper cups with mugs/glasses)  Choose environmentally friendly alternatives if available, such as biodegradable cleaners and garbage bags, also use less toxic chemicals

Biodegradable Products  Products made from things that were once living are broken down easily by decomposers.

So…what do we do with all of this?  The Story of Solutions!  sOKk sOKk sOKk
