Writing a Fictional Story

What is a Fictional Story? Imaginary Not real Fake Be creative!

Steps for writing a short narrative Requirements include: A 6-10 page fictional story about a vacation you want to take with your family. Step 1: Get your ideas organized on a web Step 2: Write a rough draft Step 3: Draw a picture for every page of your story Step 4: Bring your pictures to me so I can take pictures and upload them on the computer Step 5: Write out final draft on a colorful piece of paper. Make sure to label the sentences with the picture it is supposed to go with

Making a Web Lay out all of your ideas in a web on a piece of paper. Web circles must include: main topic, characters, setting, what did you see?, what was your favorite part of the trip? (Five circles on your web).

Pre-write Web Example. Setting: Beach in Hawaii, palm trees, white sand. Characters: mom, dad, brother, me. How did you get to your destination: flying on an airplane What did you see: Dolphins, large waves. Hawaiian Vacation What was your favorite part of the trip: Riding with the Dolphins

Draft your paper Make sure you have a picture for every page. Each page should have two sentences. Use your web as a director for writing your story.
