EAT, SLEEP, READ EAT, SLEEP, READ At Eden Elementary!

Welcome Back Library Friends! While I don’t expect you to live up to my motto, EAT, SLEEP, READ I do have a few rules and procedures for you to follow!

Library Hours Book Exchange Monday through Friday 8:30 - 8:45am From 8:45 - 3:00pm, the library is used for classes. You are welcome to use the library, but I might be busy! Look for Mrs. Ressel, my library assistant. DO NOT USE THE LIBRARY IF NO ONE IS AROUND.

Library Materials Over 9,000 books, magazines, audio books and DVDs in our library. You may check out no more than two materials at a time for two weeks. If you are doing a book report or research, you are allowed to check out an additional book.

Checking Out Materials You can borrow at one time: 2 Booksor 1 Magazine, Audio Book, Video Tape or DVDor 1 Encyclopedia, Almanac or other Reference material

Library Dos and Don’ts DO… handle the books with care. What does this mean? Don’t be sloppy about where you hide your books in your locker or backpack. make sure your hands are clean when you handle books. Your fingers carry much unseen dirt. turn pages of a book in the corners so they don’t rip.

DO… report a damaged book to Ms. Zoll or Mrs. Ressel. a damaged book is one that has pen, ink or crayon marks on it. You might even find a ripped page or pages falling out.

DON’T… Write on top of a book. The point leaves marks on book cover. Curl up the magazine. Eat with or near your books. Leave books lying where there’s water, food or animals. (do little brothers or sisters count?)

DON’T… EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use the library when Ms. Zoll or Mrs. Ressel is not around. Look for one of us in the library or in the library office!

DO… Work quietly in the library when there is a class. Use the library for research, computer work or book exchange. Ask permission to use the computers before you go on them. Ask permission to leave the library when you need a drink of water, visit the bathroom or your locker.

DO… Walk in the library. No running. Use a quiet voice. No shouting. Use a shelf marker when looking for a book. Leave a book on the table or with Ms. Zoll if you’re not sure where it belongs.

Lastly… Come to the library with a purpose! Browsing is nice but I want you to check out SOMETHING! There are many books you may not know about. Tell me what you like and I’ll try to help you.
