DRIS/CERIF/SharePoint Sergey Parinov BP TG September 2009

BP TG activity model Searching people interested in some aspects of DRIS to collaborate with them per to per for DRIS improvements The first – Board members (DRIS should be useful for TGs and Board activities) The second – BP TG members (DRIS concept, requirements, design, etc.) 3 rd – CRIS/CERIF professional community

Presentation plan 1.Looking for interested people in the Board 2.How people can collaborate with DRIS developer(s) 3.Demonstration of current DRIS release and related services: 1.DRIS wiki 2.DRIS itself 3.DRIS discussion board 4.How one should register at SharePoint server to use DRIS services

Useful DRIS Possible tasks and solutions

DRIS for euroCRIS Strategy what should be in DRIS (additional fields, entities, information objects, links) to collect data about CRIS advantages and best practice what kind of DRIS tools/services should be designed to demonstrate CRIS advantages and best practice how can DRIS assist in realization of euroCRIS strategies

Suggestion: a new “Comment” entity for DRIS We create a Comment entity with fields: 1)Title, 2)Comment text, and 3)a link to a file/web page with additional text We create a Link entities Comment_Proj, Comment_OrgUnit, Comment_Pers, and so on, to make semantic links between the comment and commented information object Semantic values can be specified as: “best practice”, “comments”, “lessons”, “critiques”, and “supplement”

Suggestion: to collect CRIS/CERIF best practice information If the best practice data are lessons, we can ask DRIS users to provide their opinions (using “Comment” entity) about two types of lessons and link it with related information objects: 1.CERIF usage lessons (link with Pers, OrgUnit, Proj,) 2.CRIS building/usage lessons (link with Pers, OrgUnit, Proj) “Lessons” objects can be created any DRIS users over existed DRIS information objects Link objects with semantic for comments can be created any DRIS users Links from “Pers”, “OrgUnit”, “Proj” information objects to “Comment_*” can be made only by owners of the first objects

DRIS for Secretariat how do we improve DRIS (interfaces, hints, instructions) to allow euroCRIS members register/update themselves in it, also their organizations and CRIS (and present it on how do we develop DRIS to allow members submitting information about events, publications, new projects and other news for publishing at

Suggestions: online euroCRIS registry and back office Each euroCRIS member should provide a professional profile for euroCRIS online directory (with public and for members only parts) euroCRIS members can submit information (news, events, projects, papers, etc.) for euroCRIS online newsflash or for news channels at the web site

DRIS for CERIF TG how can DRIS be demonstrated as an example of CERIF implementation can DRIS work as a modeling tool to examine CERIF design and new ideas can DRIS work as a CERIF test bed for interested users to play with it and learn it practically

Suggestion: CERIF online model Examples on how one can use CERIF data model for: –organizing database structure within his/her information system –organizing data input for his/her information system –organizing data output online CERIF test bed

DRIS for CRIS-IR TG can DRIS collect data useful for CRIS-IR TG activity can DRIS present a current picture of organisation and interoperability of CRIS- OAR area how can DRIS collect best practice cases of interoperability between CRIS and repositories

Suggestion: OAR registry within DRIS Proj template is suitable to record data about OAR, or can be made suitable Proj_Proj template can map relationships between CRIS and OAR if we specify additional semantic values in it Suggested new object Comment can be used to collect CRIS-OAR best practice cases

DRIS for Projects TG what data should be in DRIS for using in Projects TG activity what interface should DRIS have to be useful for analysis and selection of right partners/participants for new projects

DRIS for Conference TG DRIS can record euroCRIS conferences (as events) linked to persons (program committee, organizers, authors), publications (metadata), etc This task is the same as for Secretariat
