We Are His Hands

Day 1: Hands Full of Purpose

Opening Prayer In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Dear Heavenly Father, You are an amazing God. Thank you for sending your son to be our Savior. We are sorry for our sin. Help us to learn how to use the hands you have created for us to share the love of Jesus. Please bless our time together. In Your Name, Amen.

They’ll Know We Are Christians We are one in the Spirit, We are one in the Lord, We are one in the Spirit, We are one in the Lord, And we pray that all unity May one day be restored;

And they’ll know we are Christians By our love, by our love, Yes, they’ll know we are Christians By our love.

We will walk with each other We will walk hand in hand We will walk with each other We will walk hand in hand And together we’ll spread the news That God is in our land;

And they’ll know we are Christians By our love, by our love, Yes, they’ll know we are Christians By our love.

We will work with each other We will work side by side We will work with each other We will work side by side And we’ll guard each man’s dignity And save each man’s pride;

And they’ll know we are Christians By our love, by our love, Yes, they’ll know we are Christians By our love.

All Praise to the Father From whom all things come, And all praise to Christ Jesus His only Son, And all praise to the Spirit Who makes us all one;

And they’ll know we are Christians By our love, by our love, Yes, they’ll know we are Christians By our love. (Repeat)

Jeremiah 1:4-10 The Call of Jeremiah 4 The word of the L ORD came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Question: Question: What are the four “I” phrases God uses?

Jeremiah 1:4-10 The Call of Jeremiah 4 The word of the L ORD came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Question: What is God calling Jeremiah to be and to do?

Jeremiah 1:4-10 The Call of Jeremiah 4 The word of the L ORD came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Question: Question: What do these “I” phrases tell us about our relationship with God?

Jeremiah 1: “Alas, Sovereign L ORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” Question: What was Jeremiah’s response to God? Has someone ever told you were too young to do something?

Jeremiah 1: But the L ORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the L ORD. Question: What promises does God give Jeremiah? God makes these same promises to us.

Jeremiah 1: Then the L ORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.” Think: How do the lyrics of the next song relate to the story of Jeremiah?

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in deepest sin My hand will save. Here I Am, Lord

I, who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go, Lord, If you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people's pain. I have wept for love of them. They turn away.

I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go, Lord, If you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them. My hand will save.

Finest bread I will provide Till their hearts be satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go, Lord, If you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

Song Reflection How did the song relate to the story of Jeremiah?

Confession L: Let us make a confession of our sins. C: Merciful Father, we poor sinners confess that we are guilty of our sins. We sin when we tell lies, steal, hurt others and don’t do the things that you want us to. Our sins are committed by our own hands. Lord, we are sorry and seek your forgiveness.

Forgiveness L: Our loving Father sees our pain and the pain we give to others. Christ lived, died, and rose again, so that there would be forgiveness to replace the hurts of our lives. Through the love and grace of Christ, we are forgiven. C: May we go out into the world knowing we are completely forgiven and that you will guide our thoughts and actions so that we can be your hands. Amen!

Small Group Go with your cabin groups and counselor. Meet back in 20 minutes. Go with your cabin groups and counselor. Meet back in 20 minutes. What is God calling us to do? What is God calling us to do?

Matthew 28:20b 20 …And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” 20 [Jesus said]…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Question: What promises does God give to us?

Prayers Dear Heavenly Father… Teach us to pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.”

Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be the Lord

Bud Wilkinson Bud Wilkinson, former coach of the Arizona Cardinal’s football team, was once asked in an interview, “What contribution does professional sports make to the physical fitness of Americans?”

Bud Wilkinson “Very little. A professional football game is happening where 50,000 spectators, desperately needing exercise, sit in the stands watching 22 men on the field desperately needing rest.” How does this quote relate to what God is calling us to do as Christians? How does this quote relate to what God is calling us to do as Christians?

I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart Down in my heart, down in my heart. I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, Down in my heart to stay. I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy

And it’s the greatest, grandest feeling, And it’s a feeling here to stay, And it’s a joy that needs revealing, So, I’ve just got to say:

Pastor’s Message

Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell.

Apostles’ Creed The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Question of the Day What can you do today and after you leave camp to move more from being a spectator to being a participant?

Closing L: We are many C: But one in Faith L: We are called to be C: The hands of Christ.

Benediction L: Jesus is here, Jesus is there, Jesus is everywhere, but especially, because He loves us, He lives right here in our hearts.
