Goal of Training: Goal – Provide information to enable recognition of behaviors in which could lead to suicide and resources to prevent suicide.

Suicide Prevention: Preventing suicide is everyone’s business! We all need to work together to solve the suicide problem. We simply can no longer allow those we live, work, and play with to believe that suicide is the only solution even in the worst of times.

WARNING SIGNS The most frequently identified warning signs include: Thoughts of suicide - either spoken or written Self-harm Obsession with death Sudden changes in personality, behavior, eating, or sleeping patterns Feelings of guilt Decreased performance at school or work

Priority Warning Signs for Suicide-That Require Immediate Response:

Priority Warning Signs Someone threatening to hurt or kill themselves Someone looking for ways to kill themselves: seeking access to pills, weapons, or other means Someone talking or writing about death, dying, or suicide

Other Warning Signs These signs require referral to assistive services should you witness, hear, or see anyone exhibiting any one or more of these behaviors: Hopelessness Rage, anger, seeking revenge Acting reckless or engaging in risky activities, seemingly without thinking Feeling trapped—like there’s no way out Increasing alcohol or drug use

Other Warning Signs Withdrawing from friends, family, or society Anxiety, agitation, unable to sleep, or sleeping all the time Dramatic changes in mood Hopelessness - No reason for living; no sense of purpose in life
