Market conditions – Size of industry

Market conditions vs classification structure Total turnover in 95.2 is only 1.1 billion NOK Division is divided into six 4.digit groups. Each of the groups are homogenous concerning activity in the Norwegian market – and has a low turnover. From this point – market conditions and classification structure suits fine ( statistical unit being enterprise or establishment). Statistics Norway have no CPA-survey at this area. One question could be raised: Do repair activities ”disappear” within enterprises or establishments, having another primary activity ?

Market conditions vs classification structure CPA survey for retailtrade in 2007 SN 2002Turnover MNOK Repair of personal and household goods (per cent) 52 Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, Repair of personal and household goods , Retail sale in non-specialized stores , Retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores , Retail sale of pharmaceutical and medical goods, cosmetic and toilet articles , Other retail sale of new goods in specialized stores , Retail sale of second-hand goods in stores3272, Retail sale not in stores7 7200,0 The figures are exclusive of 52.7 repair of household goods

Market conditions vs classification structure From the survey it does not seem to be any repair activity (95.2) within retailtrade. Random case – Kalko from Norway New bike is bought in the shop ”Best Bicycles” - Kalko has a small accident in Bike is brought to ”Best Bicycles” for repair. The cost of the repair amounted to 15 percent of the price - One challenge for enterprises where repair is the secondary actitvity might be difficulties to distinguish between sale and repair in the total turnover.

The National account Limited ( if any) use of data (SBS, STS) from this area due to low production NA Classication is equal to the 3. digit group ( NACE Rev.2)

Turnover methods SBS produces absolute data at 4-digit level. Primary source is annual accounts, secondary source administrative registers The STS produces absolute data at 4-digit level. All data are collected from the VAT-register and published at establishment level on a bi-monthly basis.
