5 Main characteristics of Ukrainian BTS :  frequency: quarterly  by degree of unit coverage: not total sample survey  BTS unit: enterprise  BTS respondent: legal entity  BTS territorial coverage: all regions of Ukraine  agencies involved in BTS: State Statistics Service of Ukraine, local offices of state statistics, Scientific and Technical Complex for Statistical Research  National classifications used in BTS: - Classification of institutional sectors of economy (КІSЕ) - Classification of legal forms of business (KOPFG) - Classification of units of administrative and territorial structure of Ukraine (КОАТUU) - Classification of economic activities (КVED-2010) harmonised with NACE Rev.2 (before 2013 – KVED-2005 harmonised with NACE Rev.1.1) State Statistics Service of Ukraine

9 State Statistics Service of Ukraine Generation of the BTS units population (3) Criteria for stratification of units population: 1) territorial belonging of enterprises: - 27 groups per each sector of economy; 2) main economic activity based on КVED-2010 (NACE Rev.2 ): - industry – 34 groupings at the level of division КVED; - construction – 3 groupings at the level of division КVED; - retail trade – 13 groupings at the level of group КVED; - services – 33 groupings at the level of division KVED; - transport – 3 groupings at the level of division KVED; - agriculture – 5 groupings at the level of group КVED; 3) size of enterprises: - micro and small enterprises; - medium enterprises and banks.

10 State Statistics Service of Ukraine Generation of the BTS units population (4) Criteria of generation of sampling populations of units: 1) total share of the sampling population shall not go beyond 5% of the general population of units; 2) provision of total amounts of sold products (goods, services) in Ukraine on the whole for: – industry – retail trade – transport – services – construction – agriculture at least 50% around 40%
