Yes. All full-time NSCC students are required to “complete” a portfolio to graduate. Must I do a portfolio in my first year if I am in a two-year program? No. However, in your first year you should begin to think about your portfolio and what you may want to include. How do I know when my portfolio is completed? Portfolios are never complete! Unlike a regular college course that has a beginning, middle and end, your portfolio is a dynamic, living record that continues to change and grow with you. For NSCC purposes, your portfolio will be assessed and deemed ‘acceptable’ or ‘unacceptable’ before graduation.

Not always. However, a few NSCC programs such as the Public Relations and Graphic Design have such requirements. What goes into my portfolio? Generally speaking a portfolio should address three personal questions: Where am I? Where do I want to be? How do I get there? In answering these questions, students usually include: personal goals a resume work samples a list of skills evidence of learning and material that reflect who you are

Knowing how and when to use your portfolio in a job interview is very important. Ask if you can use it! But remember, even if you can’t bring your portfolio, by reviewing it you will be better prepared for your interview. Where cam I get more information about portfolio education?
