BY COLIN LOCKHART RED WOLF

STRUCTURAL ADAPTATIONS One adaptation of the Red Wolf is their guide hairs. This is important because it helps the Red Wolf survive in the cold weather A second adaptation is that the Red Wolf is their long tufts of hair on their feet. This is an important adaptation because it helps them cross thin ice to catch their prey. A third adaptation is that the Red Wolf has a good hearing. This is important because the Red Wolf’s ears can hear over a mile to run away from predators and hunt prey. A fourth adaptation is that the Red Wolf has feet that will never stop running. This is important because they can run for a long time without taking a break. A fifth adaptation is that the Red Wolf has a great color of fur. This helps them by camoflaugh with the brushes around them

BEHAVIORAL ADAPTATIONS One behavioral adaptation of the Red Wolf is howling to its pack. This is important because the howl will help the Red Wolf mate and also warn their prey that their coming. A second behavioral adaptation is that the red wolf is active at night. This is important because the red wolf can run away from predators easier because they can’t see them. A third behavioral adaptation is that the red wolf marks he’s or her taratoreys. This is an important adaptation because it helps them to know not to get into trouble with other wolves. A fourth adaptation is that the Red Wolf hunts in small groups. This is important because it would be more food for the red wolf.

HABITAT The red wolf lives in the North Ohio River Valley. It lives in the woods and other swampy area. This is a good habitat for the Red Wolf because there is lots of space for running. Its also good for catching prey. Red wolfs make themselves camouflage in with their surroundings.

DIET The red wolf is a omnivore and typically eats plants and animals. It also eats fruit, bunnies, and other rodents. They also eat white tailed deer. The full grown red wolf weighs up to 20 pounds after a meal. The red wolf can go weeks without a meal. They will also eat fruit, berries, and even grass.
