Please, review it prior to October conferences, so we could discuss what steps we could take to help your child Succeed.

Treemendous Behavior  Here at Hop Brook we have a positive behavior system where students will be recognized for their wonderful behavior!!

Homework  I will assign about 30 minutes of homework every night. All homework assignments will be found in your child’s Student Planner.  In addition your child should be reading for a minimum of 20 minutes a day. Please log their minutes each night & return Reading Calendars at the beginning of each month.

Students Meeting At-Home Reading Goal Grade 2 46% Grade 3 71% Grade 4 52%

Research shows that one of the greatest factors to improving reading comprehension and fluency for children is the at-home learning environment. Reading at home is essential! Our Readiculous Participation Reading Program is mandatory and all students are required to take part in this terrific activity. Your child is simply required to read aloud or to themselves for 20 minutes each night. In addition, once a month your child will need to complete a creative and fun book project. Your child will not only be rewarded with improved reading skills, they will also be rewarded with lunch in their classrooms with their teacher! Again, reading is the key to your child’s success in school. Good readers enjoy books and do very well in school. Regardless of the current reading level of your child, at home reading will allow him or her to greatly improve their reading skills.

Parents Support  Parents could help their child by:  reviewing concepts and strategies daily.  checking class work & homework daily  maintaining an avenue of communication with your teacher  continuing to praise & motivate  monitoring daily reading

Third Grade Web Site  Parents could check homework assignments, class news, weekly spelling lists and current topics in Math and Language Arts on our web site. 

Journal Entry  Today your child wrote in their journals explaining what their favorite thing about being a child was, but also what their most difficult thing was.  Before leaving this evening please read this journal entry and respond by writing what your favorite thing about being a parent is, but also what is the most difficult thing too.

Thank you for coming & let’s have a great year together! Mr. Remillard, Mrs. Murphy & Miss McKinnon
