The Spectrum The electromagnetic spectrum is a scale that tell how fast electromagnetic waves travel.

About the spectrum; Many different things are on the electromagnetic spectrum. This includes radio waves (being the slowest), and gamma rays (being the fastest). This scale represents electromagnetic waves that are involved in everyday life.

Why It’s important ; The electromagnetic spectrum represents everyday things and the speed of their waves. This tells what we can see, what we cannot see, and helps people have a better understanding about the waves around them. It starts with the slowest waves, Radio Waves, and ends with the quickest waves; Gamma Waves.

Everyday Life; Radio stations have radios that release radio waves out into the atmosphere. Microwaves are one of the many technologies that release microwave waves. Infrared waves are used in the military. Lightbulbs release light waves in which the human eye can see. The sun releases ultraviolet waves. Nuclear Power Plants like this release Gamma Rays, the fastest waves on the electromagnetic spectrum.

Transparent, Translucent, & Opaque.  Transparent; These are materials you can see through. (Glass, Windows, Oxygen)  Translucent; These are materials you can see through somewhat, but only determine a few shapes. (Sheets; Paper.)  Opaque; Materials you can not see through. (Walls, Metal, Rock.)
