HND Frameworks - history SQA has a lengthy history of successfully developing and offering HND qualifications HNDs are well respected in Scotland (and UK) with increasing recognition Recognised as giving candidates the necessary skills and knowledge to allow them to progress onto Higher Education or employment HND subject content reflects the appropriate sector

HND Frameworks – role of Qualifications Development Team Maintenance – housekeeping regular updating, as required Full review – agreed as part of operational plans Full review – involves consultation with centres, candidates, employers, Universities, Professional Bodies etc. Full review of HNDs being launched April 2013 for use in centres August/September 2013 – to ensure all HNDs are current and fit for purpose

HND Frameworks - Review Full review of HND frameworks addressed opportunities to: -Look at opportunities to reduce assessment/remove prescriptive assessment conditions, if not required -Include updated content, taking account of changing environments within the various sectors e.g. Accommodation Management -Introduce new subjects/content where appropriate e.g. Cloud Computing, Ethical Hacking, Mobile Technology

HND Frameworks - Review New/revised Units introduced into HND frameworks in China 2013 (some Units already used in Scotland) Full review of the validity and relevance of each grouping of Units in HND frameworks Resulting in 7 new HND frameworks

This means……. All centres will be delivering 2 HND frameworks (per subject) to 2 different cohorts for one academic year – September 2013 to July * Use of the correct HND Group Award, Unit and ASP codes will be particularly important for centres

HND frameworks Information for all new HND frameworks on website: - Some new Unit specifications, including Graded Units - New Assessment Support Packs ASPs (for new Units) - New Course Tutor Guide – for each HND - Information for old frameworks on website until finish date – August 2014

New HND frameworks Assessment Support Packs and Assessment Exemplars must remain secure Additional information on website - primarily for centres Centres must check website regularly – to keep up to date with changes, new guidance etc.
