Additional Resources Mental Health First Aid This 8-hour training equips non-mental health professionals with knowledge and skills to recognize emerging mental health problems and link people to appropriate care. Consist of five modules: depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse, and eating disorders Program participants also learn the risk factors and early warning signs and how to help before problems progress to a crisis situation

Program plus atRisk and debriefing session; Students: atRisk plus debriefing session; BCD’s plus suicide prevention presentation (all RA’s) Receive a Mental Health Ally button (for backpacks, etc) and/or sign (for doors) to communicate to students one’s willingness and ability to talk with a student experiencing emotional distress.

Miami’s Title IX Protocol Basics MUPD must be notified Deputy Title IX Coordinator will make contact Options for victim/survivors: 1.Work with Coordinator for support/resources and/or 2.Report to police for possible criminal charges and/or 3.Complaint with OESCR Amnesty – Limited amnesty to students who have been the victim of sex-based offenses Protocol – Available online – safety/sexual-assault/protocol.html Immediate & Ongoing Immediate Contact MUPD to disclose Report MUST be made to University (Title IX) AND Police (Clery) – Report incident to Miami University police (Clery & determination of crime) – Report to Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Student Sexual Assault (Title IX Response) Emergency Notification MUST be completed quickly by MUPD for certain crimes Within 72 hours of the incident, encouraged to seek emergency medical care Within 24 hours of receiving a report, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator will be in contact with the victim/survivor Longer Term Deputy Title IX Coordinator will: – Review procedures, Discuss options, Provide info re: services, Discuss accommodations, Accompany victim/survivor through process at their request, Ongoing point of contact Accommodations Investigation by Dean of Students/Designee Complaint with OESCR Legal Options (criminal & civil)
