1st Grade Jeannette Rendon The Life Cycle of a Frog 1st Grade Jeannette Rendon

Stages of a Frog’s Life Egg- Tiny frog eggs are laid in masses in the water by a female frog. The eggs hatch into tadpoles. Tadpole- This stage hatches from the egg. The tadpole spends its time swimming in the water, eating and growing. Tadpoles breathe using gills and have a tail. Tadpole with legs- In this stage the tadpole sprouts legs (and then arms), has a longer body, and has a more distinct head. It still breathes using gills and has a tail. Froglet- In this stage, the almost mature frog breathes with lungs and still has some of its tail. Adult-The adult frog breathes with lungs and has no tail

Can You Label The Stages of The Frog’s Life Cycle??? EEE Eggs Tadpole Adult frog Tadpole with legs Froglet

A Frog’s Habitat Frogs live near ponds because they lay their eggs in ponds. When the tadpoles hatch they cling on to the pond weed. The foliage round the pond provides shelter and protection from predators and keeps the air moist. The moist air round the pond stops the frog's skin from drying out.

What does a Frog Need to Grow and Survive?? The area round the pond provides plenty of slugs, flies and other insects for the frog to eat. The frog has a sticky tongue and a wide mouth, so it can catch insects. The frog has lungs for fast breathing. Frogs have strong back legs for leaping and swimming. The frog has moist skin to allow oxygen to pass through.

What is Metamorphosis? Metamorphosis

Pop Quiz! What is the first stage of a frog’s life cycle? This stage hatches from the egg and it spends its time swimming in the water, eating and growing, breathing using gills and has a tail. Eggs Where do frogs live? Ponds Tadpole What is metamorphosis? What do frogs eat? Metamorphosis is the change of shape during an animal’s life. Insects
