Section III Responsibility for a Lifetime Click Once

A Short History Three men incorporated the Alpha Sigma Phi Educational Foundation on December 6, 1945, on the centennial anniversary of Alpha Sigma Phi’s founding. The original purposes of this agreement are the following: 1.To enable or assist deserving young men, who may but need not be members of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, to obtain or complete a college or university education; 2.To further learning by the establishment of scholarships, scholarship incentives and awards; 3.To seek and contribute to the attainment of high educational standards among college and university students; 4.To make, encourage and promote endowments and other donations to colleges and universities, including, but not limited to, those where Alpha Sigma Phi has chapters; 5.To conduct research work in the educational field and to supplement educational processes in colleges and universities; 6.To encourage and contribute to the improvement of education and scholarship and the development of high standards of honor, integrity, character and leadership among students of colleges and universities. Mission Impacting Brotherhood for Life is the mission of the Alpha Sigma Phi Educational Foundation. The Educational Foundation purpose is to support the scholastic, educational, leadership and brotherhood development missions of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. The Foundation’s professional staff has a primary role to secure financial resources and oversee the Foundation endowment’s ability to fund the educational programs of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. Impacting Brotherhood for Life is the mission of the Alpha Sigma Phi Educational Foundation. The Educational Foundation’s mission is fulfilled through:

The establishment of scholarships, scholarship incentives, grants and awards for individual as well as chapters; The sponsorship of worthwhile educational and leadership development programs; The encouragement and contribution to the improvement of members of Alpha Sigma Phi and the development of high standards of honor, integrity, character and leadership among students of colleges and universities; and, The proper stewardship of gifts made by generous donors; the raising of money through annual, capital and ongoing support programs; as well ass the promotion of planned gifts through which donors establish an eternal legacy for Alpha Sigma Phi. “The thought of impacting the Fraternity captured my imagination” Howard L. These are to volunteer time to the Foundation or to make some form of financial contribution. Click Once

Volunteer Your Time There are a number of ways to help to support the Educational Foundation. Our organization is lead by a group of 15 volunteers who serve as trustees. These men come from a wide range of occupations including service as presidents, chief executive officers or senior executives of companies such as AT&T Capital Corporation and General Motors, and as attorneys, entrepreneurs, and from the field of education and the financial world. The Foundation board also has a committee structure made up from both trustee members and other Alpha Sig volunteers. Donate your Resources The easiest way for a Brother to support the Educational Foundation is to make a gift. Since the Alpha Sigma Phi Educational Foundation is a non-profit I.R.S. 501 (c)(3) organization, all contributions are tax-deductible.

The most common type of gift is cash. In addition the Educational Foundation can receive securities (stocks and bonds), art and property. Manigault Society Brothers can also join the Manigault Society by remembering the Educational Foundation in their estate planning. The most common forms of gifts here are: wills, life insurance, trusts, and charitable gift annuities. It was this special form of giving that enabled the Old Gal to receive its largest gift ever, a $6,400,00 bequest from Howard Kleinoeder, Washington ’35, Omega ’90. How money is invested Large gifts such as the one received from Brother Kleinoeder are set aside into a special fund. These funds are then invested into the stock market, bonds and money market accounts. The money generated from these investments is used to make grants to the Fraternity and fund the operations of the Educational Foundation.
