School and Class Information

Homework & Grading Policy Homework is due at the beginning of class. Grading: Homework worth 10 points. Quizzes worth 15 or 20 points. Oral Presentations worth 20 or 30 points. Projects worth 50 points. Tests worth 100 points.

Teaching style New material presented: notes with examples, visual aids, stories, comparing and contrasting, reading, songs In-class Training: pair work, group work, Q & A, translation, dialogues Individual Practice: homework (paragraph or specific writing activity) Indirect Assessment: Q & A, speaking scenarios Let’s go further: songs, videos, reading, translation Direct Assessment: Quiz, Presentation, Project, Unit Test, Final Exam

As a parent, what can I do to help my child succeed in your class? Be sure that child has a study routine. – A quiet place to study without distractions – A set time to study (before dinner, after dinner, from ? till ?) Be curious about what he/she is learning – Ask to see child’s work; ask child to explain to you what he/she is learning Be positive about child’s progress. – Words of praise go a long way (even for teenagers) – If child needs extra motivation, set up a positive reward system.

School and Class Information

Class Information Tutoring: If student does not get a B or above on a quiz, he/she must retake the quiz. If a B grade cannot be earned with individual study, tutoring sessions must be scheduled. Students must finish the 1 st semester with an A or B average in order to continue AP French the 2 nd semester.
