Threatened, Endangered, or Extinct?

Why do we have species declining in numbers? Mostly human interaction with the species: – Overhunting – Climate change (caused by humans) – Destruction of habitat – Pollution – Introduction of invasive species

Threatened Species Species who’s numbers are low; they may become endangered Marine Iguana

Endangered Species A species who’s numbers are so low they are in danger of being extinct Lynx, Iberia Javan Rhino, Indonesia California Condor

Extinct A species which has lost all of it’s members and no longer exists. Trilobite Fossil Wooly Mammoth- Artist’s rendering

Least Concern Near Threatened Conservation Dependant Vulnerable Endangered Critically Endangered Extinct in the Wild Extinct This scale is on the back of your Notes Supplement. Label the different code names and color the circles the correct colors. Colored pencils are in the middle.
