Pivot Introduction

What is Pivot? Pivot Stickfigure Animator 3.1 Animate figures Create figures Import backgrounds, pictures, sprites, etc. Create movies

Animation Sections of figures “pivot” on joints. By moving segments small amounts each frame, you create motion The smaller the move each frame, the smoother the motion appears. Multiple figures can be animated in a movie at the same time.

Example of Animation

Moving Pivot Points Each joint moves in concert with the others. More pivot points can add more realistic motion. A spine has many joints, having more pivot points makes it look rounded and adds flexibilty. Adding feet or a neck makes it look more expressive. More pivot points also means more adjustments in each frame.

Today’s Goal Make a stick figure run across the screen and jump up and down. Animation should have at least 40 frames. Play back adjusting the frame speed. Save file and keep for next lesson.
