1. Media in PowerPoint Learning Goal: Today you are going to explore how music and video can be added to a presentation.

2. Sounds and Movies PowerPoint has good but limited media capability Good: It supports most types of audio and video. Limited: 1.Precise timing is difficult to achieve. 2.Media files are stored separately from the presentation file.

3. File Size Any media file that is less then 100 kb can be embedded into the ppt file. Files greater must be linked. Note: You can change the 100kb limit, but things may run a bit slower.

4. So, how do you do it? 1.Make sure all your media files are saved in the same folder as your presentation. 2.Select the insert menu 3.Select video or Audio 4.Follow the instructions.

5. Try this: Save a new ppt presentation in your unit 2 folder. Add 5 slides. Move one of the songs from the media folder into your unit 2 folder. Add the song to your presentation and see if it plays.

6. Reminder When you insert a sound or video, you are giving PowerPoint directions from your presentation to the sound. If you move either of them, your directions will be wrong and your sound won’t work.

8. Try this #1 Set your song so that it starts automatically when the slide show starts and continues until the end.

9. Try this #2 Set the song so you have to click an icon to get it to start, then stop it at the end of the first slide 1.Set your song so that it automatically starts playing on frame 2 and then continues to the end of the presentation.

11. Adding Ambiance Go to www.flashkit.com and click on “Sound Loops” over on the right.www.flashkit.com Sound loops are usually used for background music or sounds. They are repeated forever and the end feeds back into the beginning. Download one of the sound loops and set it repeating forever quietly in the background of your presentation. Show Mr.Kurz

12. Your Job Create an animated slide show of pictures, videos and flash animations to go along with one of the songs in the Media folder. Sort of like a music video. Your animations and pictures should go with the music. Remember, every thing that happens in a presentation needs to support the message. Show Mr.Kurz when you are done.
