Local Education Agency Guidance for CTE Programs Eligible for Academic Credit  As of 2009, R (4) (a) “Local school district governing boards may grant to career and technical education and vocational education program completers a maximum of five and one-half credits to be used toward math credit requirements for graduation.”  As of June 2014, in compliance with the State Board of Education approved 8 CTE programs as eligible for 4 th credit in math pending approval by Local Governing Boards.

Required Components for CTE Programs Under Consideration for Math Credit  Rigorous curriculum development process  The Local Governing Board will ensure that the CTE program under consideration: will undergo a rigorous curriculum development process that provides evidence of substantial high school academic content in the area of math. providing integrated academic credit will provide instruction with fidelity to both the specific CTE program standards and the math content standards at the high school level.

Peoria Unified School District Process Receive approval from College Board and NCAA for CTE program as eligible for academic math credit Build Academic Team with CTE and Math Content Specialists Conduct rigorous analysis of CTE standards and curriculum for integrated high school level math standards Create a curriculum proposal and present to district Curriculum and Instruction Department for review Present recommendation to Governing Board for their approval
