Lamps, ashtrays, waste baskets, Pillows, quilts, mirrors, books, candles, clocks Decorative accessories: add aesthetics to the room Pictures, sculpture, collections, plants, floral arrangements, wall hangings

3. Things to consider …. Cost: Is it in the budget? Can it be replaced? Function: Does it fit in the room, is it needed? Versatility: Can you use in other spaces? Maintenance: Is it fragile, expensive, hard to clean, hard to keep alive

Roles of Accessories Emphasize focal point Give the room balance Emphasize the foreground or background Orchestrate colors, patterns, textures Act as a personal expression

9.Wall Hangings …Just about anything! Fine Art Photographs Collages/Collections Posters Etchings, lithographs Maps Weavings Baskets Mirrors Fabric wall hangings

10. Guidelines for wall groupings… Consider the scale, proportion, and balance. The wall arrangement and the furniture beneath should seem like a unit. Remember the golden mean Hang a large picture on an important wall at eye level. Keep an imaginary line around the outside of a grouping of pictures, so that the arrangement will have unity. Usually use more than one dominant grouping or picture in a room

More Guidelines for wall groupings… Hang pictures of moderate size so that the lower edges are even with the lower edge of the largest picture near them. If furniture is arranged for formal balance, the pictures could be hung in formal balance. Straight lines can be relieved by curved lines. Uneven numbers are more desirable than even numbers and will be less tiring. Avoid hanging pictures against figured wall paper unless the pictures are matted or the subject is strong enough to hold its own against the wall paper. Make a trial grouping of your wall arrangement on the floor.

Accessories Mirrors should reflect beauty How should you choose a picture/art? You should enjoy it! 11. Where should you hang photographs? Intimate rooms Hallways 12. A bare wall is…Better than a wall with the wrong scale or type of wall hanging.
