3.1 - Latest discussions on EU Energy efficiency Messages from key policy makers: The deputy Head of Cabinet of the Commissioner for Climate Action & Energy, Mr Pierre Schellekens said: By summer, the Commission will issue a new market design document that will tackle: How to move the market to a truly functioning electricity market How to make sure RES are integrated in the grid How to match supply and demand Consumers in centre: tools to privide a system with more active consumers e.g. use of smart meters

3.1 - Latest discussions on EU Energy efficiency > The work on the Energy Labeling Directive is well advanced > The Energy efficiency Directive will be reviewed in 2016 with a first consultation period in +-October 2015 (on annual targets, reporting & monitoring……) > The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive will be reviewed end of 2016 with an impact assessment aiming at evaluating the current Directive and the financing of smart buildings, …”

3.1 - Latest discussions on EU Energy efficiency Kathleen Van Brempt, member of Parliament, or Marie Donnelly, Director at DG Energy focused on: “… we don’t practice what we preach, so sometimes we have to force Members States to go into a certain direction…, the energy transition is growing alongside a change of mindset, we are in a unstoppable shifting process BUT the Commission must be much more clever towards the end-consumer.” … and last but not least to the stakeholders present in the room: “..tell us what and how the CE should be doing about this!” The message is clear, the AIE has some work to do!

3.1 - Latest discussions on EU Energy efficiency Next industrial revolution : energy, IT and smart appliances Message from the electrical industry: We need to enhance consumer awareness campaigns Deploy energy when and where needed thanks to digital technology –industrial market: easier to roll out smart technology –Big commercial buildings: integration of technology to manage energy consumption = 30% savings –Return on investment between 3 and 5 years –Most difficult: residential market

3.1 Latest discussions on Renewable Energy policy Message from Energy Commissioner Canete: –Current law has to be implemented –Work started on new RES & Transport package with focus on more efficient regional level –By mid 2015: new ideas reg. Infrastructure / grid electricity market Better integration Better interconnection Better reaction of consumers’demand

3.1 Latest discussions on Renewable Energy policy EU should keep leadership in RES RES is entirely part of the Energy Union strategy Focus on consumers

3.2 Up-date on the Communication from the Commission on the Evaluation of national regulations on access to professions Context Improve the access to profession Facilitate the mobility of qualified professionals within the internal market More flexible and transparent regulatory environment ► Member States to introduce national action plans by 10th of April 2015 but no obligation Today only 4-5 countries did (UK, NL, S, Hu)

Scope of activities « Electricians » activities differs significantly among MS Sometimes related to voltage professionals Sometimes related to different activities e.g. installing lifts or gas installations

PCC meeting on PCC will not allow the contribution issue to take as long as the CEETB issue Cautiously and thoroughly discussed from every viewpoint and different angles Conclusions:  No compromise or tailor-made solutions  3 different categories of membership  Membership and fees o Full membership = 60% fixed + 40 % proportional o Associate membership = 50% of full membership o Corresponding membership = free o + developing membership = flat fee (for 2016: 1.000€) for 3 yrs

 Membership and rights: - Full members: have the ownership of the association = full voting rights and services - Associate members / developing members: invited to annual meeting but no voting rights, no candidature for the constituants, not allowed to participate to internal meetings with the related info, part of the family but limited access to information, no login for website and no first line information

In practice: –Hungary and Slovenia ►benefit of the developing membership in 2016 and 2017 –Luxemburg, Portugal, Spain and Italy ►choose bewteen full and associate membership

Meeting on 13 February and conf call on 11 May discussing the following topics: PEF: on-going actions Financing building renovation and list potential EE measures in the electrical sector (dropbox) Energy Union Strategy issued by : AIE comments Follow up the review of eco-design and labelling directive Smart grids: no action at this stage Energy Task force: Alexis Cintrat

AIE platform WSE-CYE Constructive meeting on Participants appreciate the AIE platform in between the competitions to exchange and share ideas and suggestions Next competition in December 2016 in Göteborg –Key points: - theoretical test - process of commissioning - AIE booth and work area - use of multi brand material - use the AIE platform for the technical outline to avoid misunderstanding and confusion
