Not to be confused with adverbs Adverbs are words that usually describe verbs. They will often end in -ly The boy ran quickly The slug crawled slowly Sometimes adverbs also describe adjectives The night was completely dark. Susie May is a very pretty girl.

Sentence Ladder Student number 1 writes a two word sentence. (Noun + verb) Next Student adds an adjective to the sentence. Next Student adds an adjective, article, or adverb. Etc, etc, etc Each time the paper is passed, students must re-write the sentence and include their new word.

The team with the longest sentence that makes the most sense after 60 seconds, wins that round!
