I hear sheep have really nice hearts boys and girls

Hello Piggy Heart Don’t forget your gloves!

What two types of tissue make this up? Why does it secrete an inner fluid that bathes the heart?

How can you tell this is the anterior portion of the heart? This ? And This ? Provide two reasons why this is the left ventricle!

What the heck are these? Rt.Lt. Ear-shaped extensions What chambers would be found inside these?

How can you tell this is the posterior portion of the heart? 12 3 Y X

The Coronary Vessels The cardiac muscle receives oxygen/nutrients for metabolism from the coronary arteries and releases carbon dioxide and waste products into the cardiac veins.

The Great Vessels The very large veins & arteries, which transport blood to and from the heart muscle

Locating the great vessels:

Anterior View--Aortic Arch Aorta Arising from the left ventricle of the heart is the largest artery of the body, the aorta. Rt.Lt.

Final Check point Students should be able to trace pathway of blood through great vessels and heart. Students should be able to trace pathway of blood through great vessels and heart. (begin with vena cava and end with vena cava)

That’s All folks! …and don’t forget to clean up.
