Presentation transcript:

It’s becoming increasingly clear to medical and educational professionals that it’s essential for human beings to drink water in order for us to perform at our best in both physical and mental work.

How much do you know? What proportion of the human body is made up of water? Water accounts for 70% of our body weight!

How much do you know? How much dehydration (loss of water) can we tolerate before our brain and body functions are affected? We can only lose 10% before being affected – and a 20% loss will make you seriously ill!

How much do you know? What are the 3 ways in which we get water? Drinks Food (especially fruit & veg) Chemical processes in the body which generate water

How much do you know? How much water does the British Medical Association recommend us to drink per day? The BMA suggests 2.5 litres of water per day – of which at least 1.8 litres should be directly from drinks!

How much do you know? What health advantages are there in drinking bottled water? None whatsoever! Tap water is clean & has all the minerals we need – and all those plastic bottles create pollution and need shipping around!
