University of Montana Foundation Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign Tara Vinson Associate Director, Annual Giving University of Montana Foundation

Our mission is to increase philanthropic support to ensure the University of Montana’s excellence, access and affordability, focusing fundraising activity on the priorities set by the University and building and maintaining relationships with alumni and friends who donate to UM. We also manage an endowment. Earnings from the endowment provide ongoing support for the University Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign Mission Statement: To educate UM faculty and staff about the importance of private support and encourage them to make a gift to an area on campus that inspires them. As an employee, you can support the area you choose- it's up to you.

Why Faculty and Staff Give:

Impact of Support The most important reason to support UM – our students! – Every year our collective gifts to the University of Montana enhance the student experience. – By giving, you have yet another opportunity to invest in the students you have affected, and who have likely enhanced your lives in return. – Your gift has the potential to touch so many student lives. All UM students deserve the opportunity to maximize their learning potential. – Because of you, our students have the opportunity to be challenged and engaged - the possibilities for educational success are endless Grant Funding Potential – It’s crucial to have a high percentage of employee participation if you want to land a grant. If your institution’s employees aren’t contributing, a foundation won’t feel obligated to do so either. – A high giving percentage among faculty and staff makes a funding organization come alive and is where trust begins. – This personal financial support demonstrates board members and employees commitment to the financial health of the University. – When foundations see grant seekers contributing it helps make a stronger case to support the project.

Last Year……………… ……………………335 Faculty and Staff Made a GIFT ………………………………………………………….$100,000 ……………………………………………………………IMPACT ………… 25 $1,000 a year scholarships renewal able for 4 years ONE CONNECTED CAMPUS

Goals and Objectives Increase faculty and staff participation from 14% to 20%; GOAL: 500 donors 170 employees have ALREADY given this year! Last year 25 more employees made gifts than the previous year; goal is to grow that number to 50 NEW employee donors THIS YEAR! Annual gifts from faculty and staff are vital to the continued success of this University, so OUR example is important for today’s students to see.
