First, let’s review! What is the Texas Parent Survey?

State Performance Plan Indicator 8 All states must report the “percent of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities.” The state of Texas surveys a sampling of parents of students receiving special education services to answer Indicator 8.

Texas Parent Survey School districts and charter schools in Texas are selected to participate in the survey process. Texas conducts a random sampling of students to receive surveys based on the federal requirements. Districts with over 50,000 students receive surveys each year. ( )

What about the Parent Survey?

Will the Parent Survey continue beyond 2012? Yes, 2 more years were added to the data collection. The approach that will be used is still undetermined. The survey questions more than likely will change after this year.
