What are the Expectations… Focus is for students to be reading at their Independent Level. Students will be reading independently for an extended period of time. Students will be involved in partner relationships, book talk groups, and whole class share times about books they are reading. Students will be giving book recommendations. Students will be expected to respond to text in many forms including Post-it notes, written responses in their Reader’s Notebooks, and Response Letters. Students are responsible for completing reading logs to track their reading progress.

Social Studies Students will expand content knowledge using biographies, Time for Kids, and Discovery Education. They will engage in projects to develop literacy, inquiry and research skills necessary to analyze, evaluate, and present ideas. Homework Homework will consist of the following: Math Fact Practice (5-10 minutes) and an occasional story problem/application Daily reading at the student’s independent level. Reading Log of time and pages read 1 Weekly Response Weekly Spelling Activities (3 in total) Students will have an assignment book to fill in each day. It is their responsibility to bring homework back to school each day. Students have a designated Home/School Folder
