Adjective Students find an adjective for first letter of their name.

Kings and Queens At the end of the lesson, get two pupils up the front, you say the English, the first kid to say the word in the target language wins and the other sits down, to be replaced by another pupil. The person left standing when the bell goes is officially king or queen of the class.

Beat the Teacher Write down numbers on the board. Point at a number and say what it is. Pupils repeat. If you say the word incorrectly they have to stay quiet. If they are quiet they gain a point.

Snap Students are given a pack of cards with images/words in English. Students play ‘Snap’ and the first person to say the word in the target language gets to keep the card. The student with the most cards wins.

You then do the same with their card. If both people translate each others’ cards correctly you can swap. Count the amount of times you have exchanged papers. Can you get more than 10?

Vocab Hunt Students are given an empty vocab grid. Blu-tac the words in the TL around the room. Students work in pairs or small groups and with only one person being able to leave their seat at a time they have to fill their table. The one student who leaves the group has to memorise the word and the spelling, come back and share with partner and group members. The other student(s) look up the Spanish word in the dictionary. Students take it in turns until all words are found and translated.

One person starts reading it… if they make a mistake, or someone thinks they do, they shout ‘Rhubarb and tell you what they think went wrong. If they are correct the student who shouted out ‘rhubarb’ takes over reading and wins a point for their team. If they hadn’t made a mistake, the student who was originally reading gets a point for their team and carries on reading.
