The Gutter Guzzlers

Introduction Our projects goal was to design and build a contraption that could lift a 1 kg weight 1 meter in the air in roughly 10 seconds The parts were found around EST 13 and the parts that were bought were cheap and easily found

Overview The first step in this design is to fill the top bucket with about 2 L of water. When ready we simply open the valve that is connected to the bottom of the top bucket so the water will run down the gutter and fill the bucket at the end of the gutter, which will eventually lift the 1 kg weight.

The Contraption

Potential Energy The Water – Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy The Bucket- Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy

Conclusion Our contraption took around 6 hours to build and required help from all of the team, planning took even longer to get it right. Complication – LEAKS Finally we are done with 151, good luck to all.
