Writing = Self-Exploration and Personal Development  Writing down what you want to do with your life is a sound way to establish your major goal. True or False?

Choose a career goal that matches with your values.  Look back at values clarification sheet.  Goals should grow out of the things we need and want.  Choosing a goal means deciding what you value most in life.

Procrastination  A compulsion, a bad-habit, a self- destructive behavior.  Goals and Plans help to fight it.  Examine your excuses for procrastinating and try taking a more positive approach.  Get out there and do something and you’ll feel better about everything.

Locus of Control  One of the reasons we procrastinate is because we’re not intrinsically motivated.  That means we don’t feel that the goal we’re after is our goal.  (For example:  Survey)

Intrinsically Motivated People  Believe they are in charge of what happens to them.  Do not blame others or situations outside of their control when things go wrong.  Take responsibility for what happens to them.  Act easily, because they know they can change things.

Extrinsically Motivated People  Do not believe that they are in charge of their lives.  Make excuses and blame others when things go wrong.  Believe in chance, rather than hard work  Find it difficult to act because they don’t feel it will matter.  External motivation can make you do things, get things done, but you generally don’t enjoy them.
