FTE Calculations A student for FTE funding purposes, are in fundable classes for: 5 hours a day 300 minutes a day (5 hours * 60 minutes) 1500 minutes a week (5 days * 300 minutes) 180 days a year (90 days a semester) 900 hours a school year (180 days * 5 hours) A student can earn a maximum of 0.5 unweighted FTE per semester.

What happens during the regular term when the student has 30 hours of instruction per week instead of 25 hours? For funding purposes, only 25 hours are reported. The extra 5 hours are discarded. Note this on the Student/Course Verification List Report (FTJOB67P)

Q. Why does it matter what group a program is in? A. Programs in Group 2 are capped by the Legislature.

The districts appropriated total group 2 weighted FTE (WFTE) is our cap. Any actual Group 2 WFTE over this total is only funded at a weight of 1.0 by the state. Caps are applied to total Group 2 Weighted FTE, not individual programs within Group 2.

Weighted FTE Weighted FTE for a program category = the FTE times the cost factor (weight). Example: If you have 100 UFTE in Program 113, the weighted FTE is calculated as follows: 100 UFTE x = Weighted FTE.

Are all instructional programs eligible for FTE funding through the FEFP? No. For example, Voluntary and School Readiness PreK students are funded through other funding sources.

Also….... Adult programs are funded through Workforce Development Program Funds.

DJJ FTE DJJ FTE DJJ students are provided a maximum of 250 instructional days.

Is an ESE student counted in ESE support level for summer term instruction? Only if the student is also a DJJ client. Remember, within the FEFP, only DJJ clients earn FTE for summer term instruction.
