What do you want to be when you grow up?

What is a resume? Why use one? Do you have too use one? What goes into it? At the end of this ppt. You should have enough notes that you could write an effective resume. Don’t rely on asking me what goes into a resume later.

Want a Job?! Resume Development What is a Resume?

Why is good resume development important? Understanding the reviewing process  HR deals with 10s of applications per vacancy  Intense time pressures and deadlines  HR makes its first decision on your app by scan reading your resume  Initially we are searching for a few KEY words in your resume  Time is precious and if they have trouble navigating your resume it will be discarded  HR will not give you the benefit of doubt – Why?  HR doesn’t know YOU so your resume presentation will reflect on you and the work they can expect from you – So What should you not have on a resume?  Processing resumes is tedious, so if you make their life easier they will instantly take a positive attitude towards you.

Poor Presentation can…. Hide your most important information from HR Stop your resume from being read fully. Build a negative impression of you. Display a belief that your work will be of poor quality. STOP your application from moving forward.

Good Presentation can…. PPPPull the HR’s attention to your resume. CCCConveys you possess more skills than what is listed. CCCCreates transitions to guide HR to relevant areas of history in your resume. IIIInstantly gives positive feedback. GGGGets YOU an interview!
