Agenda Why do we need to upgrade? EBS Release vs. 12 Architecture Tasks to complete to ease R12 upgrade: Upgrade database to 11g R1 or 11g R2 Convert tablespaces to OATM model Evaluate impact of R12 on customizations and extensions Introduce BI Publisher and JDeveloper Introduce Web ADI and Report Manager Archive and purge EBS 11 i data Convert from JInitiator to Native Sun JRE Integrate Discoverer Server Release 10g with EBS 11 i Configure Oracle iAS Release 10g for external apps (SSO, OID, Portal) and integrate with EBS 11 i Position for high availability and scalability Evaluate and complete platform change based on ROI

EBS R12.1 is available, but why do we need to upgrade? Evaluate business benefits and cost: Assess R12 functionality and features for “in use” and future planed modules Complete ROI analysis to understand architectural or deployment capabilities in R12 and benefits for system performance, availability, scalability, security and manageability Evaluate upgrade cost, resources and timeline impact on other planned projects

EBS R12.1 is available, but why do we need to upgrade? Review existing 11 i customizations, extensions and third party integration and assess R12 impact Since is a terminal release of 11 i Oracle development’s priority is R12.1 Keep in mind Premier Support for: EBS ended in June 2008 EBS ended in November 2010 Extended support fees for EBS waived until November 2011

Extended support for EBS Significant number of patches for individual modules (if you have not maintained patch levels) for P1 and Non-P1 issues Extended support patch level verification available via patch (review Metalink Doc ID: for more info) Minimum baseline patches need to be applied in order to receive any new bug fixes after 11/30/2010 Customers will continue to receive tech support including access to online support tools, knowledge base, pre- existing fixes and SR resolution (review Metalink Doc ID: for more info)

Extended support for EBS 12.0 EBS R12.0 will transition to Extended Support on 2/1/2012 New EBS 12.0 patches will be created and tested during Extended Support against the minimum patching baseline Need to apply minimum patch baseline as per Metalink Note: To be eligible for Extended Support, [EBS 12.0] customers will need to have applied at minimum the Release Update Pack (Note ID ) and the Financials CPC July 2009 (Note ID )

Database size contributes to the length of R12 upgrade process; less data to upgrade to R12 the faster the upgrade process. Periodically review and control growth of 11 i EBS data. Use standard archive and purge programs available or 3 rd party archiving products. Use “Purge Portal” introduced in EBS to configure, deploy and monitor archive/purge programs from a single console. From System Administrator Responsibility go to OAM and then to “Purging/Critical Activities” For additional information please review Metalink Note: Reducing Your Oracle E-Business Suite Data Footprint using Archiving, Purging, and Information Lifecycle Management, Doc ID:
