Hinduism Hinduism is the third most popular religion in the world. There is no particular founder, preacher or single teacher of Hinduism. Hindus have 33,000 million gods and goddesses and believe in reincarnation and that is one of the reason why many Hindus are vegetarians. According to Hindu myth, the world was created by Lord Brahma, is preserved by Lord Vishnu, while Lord Shiva is the destroyer. Hindus believe in idol worshiping, their worshiping include chants, holy songs. Many Hindus do not believe in worshiping in groups but they prefer doing it individually so that they can involve personal offering daily.

Sikhism According to some beliefs, Sikhism is the re-purification of Hinduism. Sikhs don’t believe in idol worshiping. They also say that there is no Hindu and Muslim as everyone is God’s child and they believe in brotherhood. Sikhs never cut there hair, and they always keep kirpan (holy knife) with them. They can not use it for every reason but only when they have to defend their faith.

Jainism The earliest "historical" Jain activities date back to 850 BC. Jainism is an ancient philosophy and ethical teaching that originated in India. Janis do not believe in a God or gods in the way that many other religions do, but they do believe in divine (or, at least, perfect) beings who are worthy of devotion.

Festivals in India A festival means time for sweets, lights, parties, loud music, and large get togethers. In India, we have festivals in almost every month. Having so many religions is one of the reasons for that. Some major celebrated festivals are Diwali, Holi, Bhaiya dooj, Janmashtmi, Baisakhi, Shivratri, id, Christmas, and Good Friday.

Indian music. Indian music is as diverse as is India with its cultures and religions. Every state of India has its own music and a special musical instrument. Present form of Indian music is based on two basic pillars: Raag and Taal. Raag is the melodic form and Taal is the rhythmic form.

TAJ MAHAL. It was built in 1631 and it took 11 years to built this unique structure. It is also one of the seven wonders of the world.

INDIA GATE COMPLETED IN 1931, IT WAS BUILT IN THE MEMORY OF SOLDIERS WHO DIED IN FIRST WORLD WAR

LOTUS TEMPLE. Its similar to Unitarian churches, so that every one can meet under one roof with no specific religious beliefs.

Schools in India Schools in India are not divided into elementary, middle and high schools. They begin with kindergarten and end up with a senior grade. Students go to school six days a week. Schools do not have air conditioning, so kids have morning assembly every day. The examinations are really difficult and a lot of it is memorization. There is a universal Indian Board examination system for classes 10th and 12th – these students will be given the same exam throughout the country.
