Staff of SOSU Sjaelland 275 Secundary education  we teach 4000 ordinary students a year  we offer educations at 4 different levels giving the possibility to work with children, youngsters, adults and elderly PRÆSENTATION AF SOSU SJÆLLAND

 SOSU Sjaelland employs 25 persons in teaching, advising and administration in the Training Center  Our center is situated in Ringsted, but we also offer training for in- service workers at hospitals, elderly homes and kindergardens KURSUSCENTRET (TRAINING CENTER)

Our speciel assignments are  1) to qualify in-service staff to have the adequate competences the labour market demands  2) to help unemployed into the SOSU line THE NEEDS OF THE LABOUR MARKET

serve a triple purpose:  To contribute to maintaining and improving the vocational skills and competences of the participants in accordance with the needs on the labour market  To contribute to solving labour market restructuring and adaptation problems in accordance with the needs on the labour market in a short and a long term perspective. AMU THE ADULT VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMMES (IN DANISH ARBEJDSMARKEDSUDDANNELSER OR AMU)

..  To give adults the possibility of upgrading competences for the labour market as well as personal competences through possibilities to obtain formal competence in vocational education and training.  Participants may acquire new and updated skills and competences to better their opportunities to managing new and wider job functions and to becoming more flexible on the labour market AMU

 A lot of training courses are developed in AMU and we pick the fruits from the AMU tree and we construct the training courses to match the actual needs A LOT OF TRAINING COURSES Dementia Griff and crisis Coopertion Palliation Tecnique of handling in diplacement task Food and elderly people ?

”Healthy food-healthy life”” Project from the National Agency for Social Affairs: Healthy food - healthy life  to develop and strengthen the quality of the Danish food service for elderly.  In cooperation with a number of municipalities this national agency has developed methods and tools to strengthen the quality of the Danish food service in the municipalities, in the public kitchens, in home care and residencies for elderly.

 A need to strengten and improve staff competencies concerning food and elderly showed up.  In SOSU Sjaelland we cooperated with the National agency of Social Affairs to develop 4 training courses in AMU A NEED TO STRENGTEN AND IMPROVE STAFF COMPETENCIES

4 training courses for employers in health care: 1.Cooperation with the elderly about healthy food habits( 2days) 2.Screening and nutrition(3 days) 3.Interdisciplinary cooperation of meals to the elderly( 2 days) 4.To be hosts and the social conditions around the meal(1 day) 4 EFTERUDDANNELSER FOR PLEJEPERSONALET

IMPORTANT It is important to teach the staff in health care to look at the elderly’s state of nutrition. It is important to think more interdisciplinary to see the connection from the production of food until it is eaten by the residents

 How can we create the motivation to educate health care staff about the nutrition state of the elderly?  We have a lot of educational material and possibilities. OUR PRIORITIES IN THE TRAINING CENTER
