33 Support Program Updates (1/5) Todays agenda Our goal is to make todays workshop most valuable to your team, given your individual districts needs Districts were encouraged to develop their own agendas for team time For teams that have not done so, we have an optional agenda focused on communications and implementation Use the time well, to engage all teammates and make significant progress Visits All visit materials will be online this week, including: Information and presentations on the schools and their partners Feedback from attendees and their ideas for next steps If someone from your team went on a visit, please use some of your team breakout time to hear their feedback and impressions If you sent someone on a visit who is not here, please arrange time with them and your team to learn about what they saw Please let us know how we can support LEAs in incorporating the lessons from visits There are two National Center on Time and Learning workshops: Monday, March 21 in Dover Tuesday, March 22 in Wilmington

44 Support Program Updates (2/5) Success Plan Tool DOE has completed refinements to the Success Plan tool – primarily fixing several glitches and aligning the new template to the online Success Plan There will be a pilot of these changes from February 28 – March 28 Districts can use the system during this time, but should wait until after the pilot to enter their new Success Plans online (as there may be technical difficulties) Please see your handout for important details on the changes, timeline, and DOE technical assistance The changes do not fix every issue, and we will be convening a group to discuss a full re-design of the ESPES system - please contact Susan Haberstroh if you would like to participate Goal 1 and 2 of plans DOE received all Goal 1 and 2 plans last Monday Each plan is being reviewed by a team of DOE reviewers Each district will receive individual feedback and have a call with Secretary Lowery next week Common guidance will be given to all districts next week

55 Support Program Updates (3/5) Communications Your team should be communicating your progress with teachers, principals, board members, parents, and other stakeholders Team representatives should be sharing information with their constituents Look for opportunities to get feedback and buy-in before your plan is finalized – consider simplifying your plan into easy-to-read sheets (e.g., plan activities only), so that you can share the draft plan widely and receive feedback Focus on developing plans that can be understood and implemented by anyone – these plans will be public documents, and should represent a comprehensive path forward There are opportunities to describe your stakeholder engagement and communications in your plan - please do not overlook these other boxes as you complete a full draft of your plan for April 11 Your responses and plans in these areas will be a key determinant of our final funding decision – were not expecting that every stakeholder completely understands and supports the plan immediately, but that they all understand the process and that their representatives have been engaged throughout

88 Data Coach Project Update 90 Minute PLCs PLC Meetings – must occur weekly in two 45-minute meetings or one 90- minute meeting; data coach will facilitate meetings every other week; data coaches will work with core teachers Timing of meetings - meetings should not overlap, allowing instructional leader and data coach to attend all meetings as required Number of teachers in PLCs – 4-10 is the range; optimum number is 8; are recommended Pilot Plan 7 Pilot LEAs with 5 coaches - Capital, Christina/Kuumba, Indian River, Milford/Lake Forest, New Castle County Vo Tech Rigorous interview process and professional development for data coaches All LEAs have identified a Liaison to collaborate throughout the Pilot and to shape the implementation process Full Launch Remaining LEAs implementation begins July, Direct Facilitation and/or Coach-the-Coach Model (each building may be one or the other) 24 additional coaches will be hired in March/April PLCs need to be in place by July, 2011 for scheduling purposes Liaisons will meet regularly with the Data Coach Project Manager & Supervisor Professional development will be coordinated across LEAs
