Mentor as Learner-Leader Delawares Sixth Annual Policy and Practice Institute by NYC Leadership Academy June 25, 2008 NYC Leadership Academy: CC BY-NC-SA 3.0

Four Corners Activity As a mentor, my primary role is to: Structure my day so my mentee may shadow me. Share my experiences and what has worked for me. Identify and discuss school-based problems and dilemmas. Support and advocate for my mentee.

The Goal of Mentoring The primary goal of mentoring should be clear and unambiguous: to provide new principals with the knowledge, skills and courage to become leaders of change who put teaching and learning first in their schools. Wallace Foundation. Getting Principal Mentoring Right: Lessons from the Field. 2007

Personal Behavior: Standards 1.1 to 1.6 How did you make your decision? What data did you use? What did you think about or reflect on to make your decision?
