Taking stock of EPF – Accomplishments over the last 4 years, A few of the challenges ahead Future opportunities for us to generate real societal change and make a difference for patients across the EU THREE QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION Testing foundations, building achievements

Real evidence of policy impact in the Commission and the European Parliament o Membership doubled and increasing o Effective outreach and capacity building, through regional seminars and Manfesto Campaign o High quality projects that support our policy work o Value + Project o Strong governance policies and procedures that reflect our core values and principles Accomplishments over last 4 years

o Committed board, secretariat and policy advisory group o Good financial management, diversification and transparency o High visibility – communications and presence at many EU health meetings o Increasing level of trust and collaboration among other health stakeholders o THIS IS A JOURNEY Accomplishments over last 4 years

o Managing growth, without overstretching the membership, board or secretariat o Fostering trust and unity across our diverse membership o Building membership in underrepresented countries/ disease areas o Translating our policy advances at EU level to patient centred policy at national level o Prioritising -focus on where we really make a difference o Building long term financial stability, whilst combatting scepticism because of industry funding Some challenges ahead

o Embedding ‘ patient involvement’ in all EU health related programmes ( ) building on Value + o Building stronger relationships with spectrum of decision makers, including national governments o Achieving substantial impact in core EU health policy growth areas, e.g eHealth, Research and Innovation, sustainability and quality of health systems o Promoting new models of financing patient groups o Core funding from the European Commission, new industry sectors, Public Private Partnerships Future opportunities - examples

How can we build and grow EPF based on our key achievements and challenges to date? How can our membership best guide, strengthen and reinforce EPF to the benefit of all our members? Where would we really like to be in 2020 as a European Patients’ Movement? Three questions
