Rotary Fundraiser For Rotary Fundraiser Profits range from $16,000-$22,000 Historic Division of Funds: GRSP Student -$6,500 Incoming President’s Local Projects 25% Corpus of Charitable Fund Currently at $87,495.00

QUESTION ? Does the Rotary Club of Canton want to continue with the fundraiser as it has for the last 15 years or make changes?

DECLINING TICKET SALES: Historically, club members have been asked to sell 5 tickets. Historically, not all club members have participated to this degree for various reasons including: Some members have done in-kind contributions. Some members are in professions that do not lend themselves to any type of solicitations. Not enough sponsors have been solicited. Surveys in the past have indicated a desire to change the fundraiser.

2007 Fundraiser INCOME 270 $40, Sponsorships 1, "Live" Auction 1, TOTAL INCOME $42, EXPENSES Cash Prizes $11, Band 1, Food & Beverages 6, Flowers & Sponsorship Banner TOTAL EXPENSES $19, NET INCOME $22,736.00

2008 Fundraiser Profits Income 234 $35,100. Sponsorships 2,000. "Live" Auction 1,900. TOTAL INCOME $39,000. EXPENSES Cash Prizes $11,500. Band & Harpist 1,300. Food & Beverages 8,814. Flowers & Sponsorship Banner 308. TOTAL EXPENSES $21,922. NET INCOME $17,078.

Issues: Difficulty in selling tickets (could be worse this year) Increase in expenses Diminished income from fundraiser Do we need a more prominent cause?

Suggestions: Leave the fundraiser as it has been historically Choose another format Sell tickets only for a cash prize Combination – increase in dues and smaller fundraiser?

Leave the fundraiser as is Pros: Historical event that raises community awareness of the club Social event for the community and club members Even $17,000 is a good fundraiser Cons: Declining income Increasing overhead Club member participation in ticket sales

Choose another format Do a more casual event with fewer expenses i.e. Western wear event at outdoor location Lower ticket prices Lower cash prize

Sell tickets only Print 5 tickets for each member to sell just as a raffle for prize money: Reduce price to $100 Cash Prize could stay at $10,000 $500 per member x 60 members = $30,000 Draw winning ticket at lunch meeting (perhaps in coordination with Law Day when we have a big crowd) Profit would still be $20,000

Questions: How to motivate club members to sell 5 tickets? Do we really want the party? Other Suggestions/Discussion:

Fundraising Committee Peter Gleichman, Chair George Bailey Lee Burger Susan Padgett-Harrison Larry Woolard A final decision will be made by ballot in the near future after hearing input from club members.
